*giggles* Apparently, there is some mention of Dark elves in some of Tolkien's work. From the arguments I've read, they are not, by nature, bad, but dark skinned. Little is known about them.
Then, of course, most elves where not fair-haired.. in fact, Legolas wasn't even. But I've probably mentioned that here somewhere already. You know, hobbits are related/partly decendent from elves. Just thought that was another interesting fact. I beleive it is mentioned by Gandalf when he is speeking of Gollum's origions.

The dark elves were those who refused the summons of the Valar calling them to Valinor and never saw the Light of the Two Trees also called the Moriquendi. Its not a reference to skin color. I don't know where you found your information, but I've never heard anything like what you said.
As for hobbits, I give this quote from the prologue: "It is plain in spite of later estrangement Hobbits are relatives of ours: far nearer to us than Elves, or even than Dwarves."
As for whatever you referenced, I can't find it. I just read over the entire section in which Gandalf discusses Gollum in the chapter "Shadow of the Past." I really don't see anything at all implying a kinship.
